Tomorrow we take off for 18 days to check off some travel bucket list items. After a stop in Edmonton for a short sleep, we'll leave for Iceland! After a few days in the land of fire and ice, we'll go on to play for a few more days in Southern Scotland. With a puddle jump plane we'll head to South- West- and then Dublin Ireland. Reverse all that and we'll be head back home.
The weeks and months before a big trip are all about reading every travel guide available, memorizing as much as possible so you don't have to bring them, and packing and repacking. And weighing my mini little Ciao, under the seat travel bag. (Costco, $29.99 and only 5.7 lbs) over and over and over.
But yesterday may have been a new all time low. I took out the digital postal scale and measured how heavy my OTC meds like Advil and Tylenol, etc. in bottles versus in Ziplocs. Ziplocs won by 4.3 ounces. All the liquid/creams for TSA to check is 12.9 oz. I am considering squeezing out some cream from a couple tubes. Tea for 18 days? 3.3oz. Here are the big spenders: Camera chargers (need two, sadly because Canon doesn't like to stay the same) (6.2 oz) and chargers, including a universal travel converter with USB port, and ear buds (8.6 oz) Needless to say, those ounces were adding up and I need to know! My friend Pancho told me he drills holes in his toothbrush handles for backpacking. I'm considering it. Need to make a jig so I don't drill my fingers and have to add a hospital visit in for the itinerary.
Today, there's nothing on the worry list.... a strange and mystifying sensation.
So internet, Moto G, and Kindle fire allowing, this blog is where I will post our adventures hopefully including a cell phone photo or two! No laptop, so the photo SD cards will get filled up and put up later.
Next post- the working itinerary....

That's so funny and true- squeeze out some cream...you find yourself choosing little travel packages, filling very small recycled hotel plastic bottles for shampoo, or not taking any at all, knowing you will be in hotels with shampoos available, then end up bringing one set back with you for next trip! The necessities when priorized get smaller, and you realize you can wear the same clothes over and over...and what you might miss you can get anywhere
